Parked at Kirkby Stephen Station and caught train to Garsdale for walk back. Thanks to Earby Rambler, found the excellent ATV track which leads up over Bubble Hill from SD801944 then all the way to the summit of Ure Head. Continue north along ATV to SD807969 (county boundary corner). North from here, the ATV is ill defined but picked up faint path over Hugh Seat & Gregory Chapel which runs roughly along the county boundary. ATV track is again picked up prior to High Seat. Trig is easy to find and looks recently excavated. Return walk was north then west and descending via Hush to Pendragon Castle then tracks and paths passing Wharton Hall and left at Halfpenny House.

WOW! I walked up from Garsdale Station after alighting the 07.05 Skipton to Carlisle train, taking the Pennine Bridleway from the Moorcock Inn up to High Dyke. Then followed fence line up to Bubble Hill across to Sails, Little Fell, Hugh Seat, & Archy Styrigg. A brilliant but long hike up & back thankfully on very dry ATV tracks all the way to the summit, in good weather with fantastic views. I called in for a well earned pint at the Moorcock Inn before my 16.00 train back to Skipton.

A+ for perseverance here, mainly because following perfect frosty blue skies a freezing fog comes over - that and getting the wrong cairn. Nice wig of moss to hide the obvious hollow. The ring is just before the first cairn on the summit coming from Nateby road - don't make the same mistake we did and look for it by the bigger cairns further along the top. Quite a magical spot, semi-inversion on Great Shunner on the way back.
