4th of 5 logs today. A high score given as not many Fenomark locations. Couldn't find it but found evidence of recent excavations.

Approx 17m due S of coastguard door, deep wiry grass. GPS fairly well settled, a few false positives, digging found only rocks, but the fenomark eluded me

Had enjoyable chat with the volunteer coastguards who were on duty.

Good excuse for a wander round the perimeter of Berwick to pick up some benchmarks. Have to admit to not probing the ground for this, but as the ground seems undisturbed there's no obvious reason to suppose it's not there. Look out post shuttered up today so no volunteers to talk to. A picture of a fenomark can be seen by clicking 'Fenomark' at top of this page.

not sure what to look for but GPS seems to indicate a rough area adjacent to look out point

Drove up from Earby with daughter, what a small world it is John one of the volunteer Watchman who showed us around up inside the tower lived in Earby on Cemetery road next door to my Wife's old school friend. The tower is only manned Sat/Sun/Tues because of lack of volunteer's & no funding from council (disgusting) so rely on donation's from passing public. The post lay in disrepair for many year's & was used by golf club for storage. The volunteers got it back to how it is today.John showed me around the equipment they use the radar was impressive with the inner circle detecting 16 miles out & outer circle 32 miles out to sea.The nearest Lifeboat station they relay info to is Bridlington, there Patron is Norman Wisdom of which they had a signed photo hung up.

The voluntary watchkeepers were on duty and were very talkative. One of them visits old world war 11 pillboxes so could relate to trigbagging. The tower was opened in 1986 by the Wilson goverment and shut in 1989. Then fell into ruin, recently reopened as a voluntary group. The ground has been tidied around the tower, but the fenomark position by our calculation is still in the tussocks. the watchkeepers offered the loan of a spade.
