Managed to get there just before dark. Location not what I expected at all. 10 for historical significance.

This must be the easiest one to find so far! Interesting sibling to the one at Heathrow with the added bonus of significant street and house names around it.

It appears someone has spent a bit of time and possibly money sorting this cannon out. I was expecting the worst, but the grass was neatly cut, the cannon in good order and the sign re erected. These two cannon deserve care and attention.

8 out of 10 for historical significance. Good to see the cannon in a tranquil location clearly being well looked after. Parked up a few meters away and strolled over to take pics and and log.

I love these unusual types. I parked around the corner and walked to the location and I enjoyed finding the cannon. Who wouldn't?

SE end of William Roy's original baseline across Hounslow Heath. Site not so well kept as at the other end. On small patch of spare gound off the appropriately named Roy Grove, between house numbers 7 and 9.

Now have a pair of cannons, both ends of the baseline. In excellent condition considering how old it is, and the amount of development which has overtaken it. Lovely walk across Bushy Park from NPL, and then onwards to Kingston via the LOOP - neither parakeets nor the advertised dangerous wild deer in evidence!

My fourth and last cannon. 27,404' indeed! Given an 8 for historical reasons. Roy Grove - a nice touch.

Visited this one the day after the corresponding memorial at Heathrow. At end of a cul-de-sac on Roy Grove, in a well maintained circle of grass though the info plaque is looking worn out. I'm glad its been kept up for mappites to enjoy.

Easy to locate. Quite amazing that such an historic site is found with little fanfare (other than the plaque erected in 1926) in a suburban cul-de-sac. Fascinating that it all started here!

On Roy Grove. The grid ref is as per listing - my GPS was to within 2m. The listing says: "Cast-iron cannon monument, installed 1791 to mark the south-eastern end of the baseline measured by General Roy in 1784 across Hounslow Heath, from King's Arbour to Hampton Poor House, which is now taken to be the origin of the Ordnance Survey." See http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-432627-monument-at-south-eastern-end-of-general. Note the name of this one is generally given as Hampton Poor House. The cannon at the other end is at Heathrow.

South-eastern end of the Roy baseline (the other end being at Heathrow). In Roy Close. In good nick with uppermost end sporting a wooden plug. Interesting plaque. Went from here towards Mortlake bagging OS related stuff en route...
