Three TPs in one place. Good result. Although getting to the top was a bit of an anticlimax. Had expected a pillar, the main purpose of climbing up here, saw this but there were a couple of people sitting on it having a picnic. After a while went over to ask if it would be ok to take a photograph. The location was very busy with lots of people around. To be expected, but distracts from being able to absorb the history of the location. Good all round views.

Pillar was dest 1987, supposedly replaced by Topograph but plaque on this says 1983 (were they late erecting it?) and it has no trig mark (no punch mark eg) although does have 3 locating points for tripod legs, on outer edge.

dated 1983 ie 4 years before trig pillar destroyed

Went up for views from the Tor which are fantastic. As well as the topograph, look for the cut benchmark on the Tor itself - near south entrance.

The Tor was revisited to admire the views and to exercise the wife, the son, a granddaughter and the granddog. The hill was busy with tourists. It was cold and windy. A little distant chilly haze didn’t spoil the outstanding views. Another prominent cut bench mark was noticed on what used to be a stone stile close to the path leading to the hill from the south west. The topograph is a replacement trig for the pillar that once stood here.
