After the 2 Lees and the trig pillar wandered across to here (wandered is a bit of an understatement - the terrain possibly ranks in the top 10 for the worse ground I've walked across!). Took a while to locate as completely covered with heather. Pergrinus' photos useful but couldn't gauge the depth and was looking much too far away. Had a lunch break, came back to it and stumbled over it! I paced it at just 1.5m from that old angled concrete block. The ship's name is now almost unreadable, but from what I could make out after cleaning it as much as possible... with spit and heather (no sawdust available)... I would agree with what Peregrinus has recorded in his log. It would seem to HMSML322 - HM Survey Motor Launch 322; the RN had 5 of these launches numbered 322-326.

Brass plate on small circular concrete pad in heather at summit. Lettering: Triangulation Station H.M.S.M.L.3.2.2 1956, Hydrographic Department London. Waymarked path from W, NF 8949 6795. Last mile some rough undulating heather. Admired the 2 islands and exited via trig pillar and Marilyn, much nicer, on a gorgeous evening. Shouted at by W T Eagles for the second time this week

Walking up the Lee's so it made sense to come out here first and make a day out of it.
