GPS points 2m to north of cairn. Possibly under turf so dug out cairn like others before me. Found half a brick and dug down 20cm through soil and rock, then hit basement. Might need shovel for full excavation. The area used to be a herring processing factory in its hayday.

Crossed about 75 mins before low tide. A bit of rock hopping to avoid narrow but deep channels. Plenty of time for a thorough search but nothing found. Possibly a victim of encroaching vegetation on the extensive rock slabs at summit area.

no sign of plate (or anything bolt like); GPS indicated at or near cairn marking highpoint of tidal island, extensive area of rock slabs; also searched under cairn. crossed about 30mins before low water on a neap tide, just about dry shod keeping close initially to pillar of former bridge; some other signs of what was presumably harbour defences.

On tidal island. Rising waters were threatening to cut me off so my search was perhaps not as thorough as it could have been
Only found this egg there
