One of eleven trigs bagged in the Lancaster Morcambe area, on the way to Kendal. This was the fourth. Parked on side street near Williamson Park and the memorial is within the grounds of the park. An impressive looking building.

The Taj Mahal of the North and one of the major landmarks you look out for when driving North on the M6. It is located in Wiliamson Park, which is a short walk from Lancaster. A walking tour of the city is not complete if you don't visit this park. Remember "TICs"? Well still up and running in Lancaster. Manned by people who live and know Lancaster. "TICs" are gifted the two visited today in the park.

Parked as close as we could to the park without paying then walked in and found FBM, nice location in a lovely park, then went around the corner to the Ashton Memorial, fairly busy. These were the last trigs of the day earlier that day we re-bagged Wards Stones trigs and bagged Wolfhole Crag and Nicky Nook trigs. Hot and sunny with clear skies, quite hazy so couldn't see the lakes from park.

The daddy of follies known locally as the Taj Mahal of the North. As a proud Lancastrian, I love the fact it can be seen from the M6. It has be used for backdrops for the annual theater in the park and gives stunning views from it's balconies when open. I can also remember visiting here in the late 70s when it looked in a sorry graffiti ridden state. Well done to those who restored it.
