Popped up to place my research results for the 4 WW1 soldiers named on the memorial. Two are in Tyn Cott Cemetary, Belgium, a third named on the Thiepval Mmrl, France and the 4th is buried in Germoe Church open cemetery just down the hill from the Memorial

4th soldier, died of wounds in England, buried in home cemetery.

Great views from up here today. Came up to climb the hill and visit the trig point mainly so this was a nice bonus bag.

YSM166 Tregonning Hill. Walked up from the rivet in the dark and found the trig and the war memorial. Lovely night time lights.

I was in the area to visit the nearby trig pillar. I noticed that this monument was also a marker on the web site so it would be rude not to visit!

The Grade II listed memorial stands on the ramparts of a small hill fort on the edge of the summit of a gorse and bracken covered hill to the west of Helston. The site was reached by footpaths from the bench at Balwest to the south. It probably is a better vantage point than the nearby trig pillar. There is a fine view to the north over lower farmland to Carn Brea and St Agnes Beacon. In the west Godolphin Hill, St Ives Bay and the mist covered hills and moors of Penwith could be seen. Mist was rolling in from Mounts Bay to the south. Many of the paths on the hill were bordered by foxgloves. The hill is within the Tregonning and Trewavas District of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site and has also been designated a SSSI, partly for the rare species of liverwort that grows here.
