With Rick Salter. We dismantled the cairn, or at least until we got down to small stones and mud, then gave up. Cairn re-built to one side. Maybe subsequent triggers will remove some more stones to eventually get to the bed rock and possibly reveal the bolt.

most recent of many visits. came from coniston old man via swirl how. spent 10 mins or so looking but no luck, like others have said must be under the cairn

Misty day stopped in the barrow mountaineering club cottage and walked right from the front door up the black sails ridge and onto the summit freezing cold mist on top no views back down lad hows ridge heavy night out head was bad.

From Coniston, via, Coniston Fells, Above Back Fells, Wetherlam, Prison Band, Swirl How, Little Carrs, Hinning House Fell, Great How Craggs,, Little How Craggs, The Old Man Of Coniston, Goats Water, The Cove, Back to Coniston – 21K in total snow above 650m Cold wind on high area, great walk - Unable to find bolt possibly under summit cairn, was to cold to spend a lot of time looking! Amazing views, luckily cloud cleared by midday.

Last summit of a Nuttalling day Dow Crags>Old Man>Brim Fell>Grey Friar>Great Carrs>Swirl How>Black Sails>Wetherlam. Does it count that I hadn't clicked that there was a bolt there at the time I was there? I think I'll count it as a half bag!

Done on coniston round came of swirl how down prison band then up to black sails first. Had a good rummage around but to no avail great views from this fell

last top of a long day. all of the coniston wainwrights dispatched today. Wetherlams a big hill aint it! didnt see no bolt

having started up the walna scar road early on in the day we reached our last of 7 wainwrights fairly early on. wished id visited the black sails top now of course.. no sign of o.s. furniture but a fine mountain all the same.

Coniston village > WETHERLAM rocky top with a large cairn spent some time looking around potential prominent rocks for the bolt but no luck its probably under the cairn! > Black Sails > Prison Band > Swirl How > Grey Friar > Great How > Brim Fell > The Old Man of Coniston > Coniston village. Previous visits 23/09/2009, 06/07/2006
