We looked for this two years ago, with no OS sketch or anything to dig with. No joy. Today we returned with sketch, tools and an extra brain. Still sadly no luck. Sketch and coordinates don’t match and are about 14m adrift. Not sure where the error lies but we checked both and still didn’t turn up anything.

Probbed a reasonable area but rocky ground covered with long grass to NW of stock fencing. Probably still there somewhere but nothing found today. ***Re-visited 11 Sep 2023. Armed with the OS Sketch I was hopeful of finding this elusive block... but not so. The sketch seems to be at odds with the GR, by asmuch as 18m. The GR puts the block a couple of metres from the stock fencing, whereas the sketch gives 19.5m from the fencing. We probed extensively at the sketch location, digging down to several flatish rocks before moving to 1.95m (in case a decimal point had been wrongly interpreted) from the fencing and repeating the process. Nothing found after 50 mins of measuring, probing and digging. Very disappointing.

Not having much luck today :-) Ten minutes searching was all I could find motivation for in this foul weather, truly the definition of dreich. Handy parking and access track. Beer and drying out time now!
