I've been looking for this for 7 whole years. The summit had just been clear felled when I started and it’s now being obscured by the next crop of trees. Well done Jon Glue. A brilliant find. When I met him recently he described the hunt and it certainly wasn’t easy. It’s becoming a struggle to get from the path to the horseshoe cairn and in another year it could be very difficult if not impossible. It was a great feeling to eventually touch the block, especially on such a sunny day.

Brass rod marker in concrete block. Measured at 13.5m from NW edge of cairn. Block is level and stable, unaffected by conifer harvesting. Current plantings are still immature but growing fast, some well over 2m high. Left the block open.

Couldn't find it 30th Dec 2021  12:27  by BigJ

That’s it. I’m officially giving up on this one. Have tried 4 times before without success. The area has been deeply ploughed for the previous crop of trees that have now been harvested. The next crop has already started to grow and has made access difficult. Spent two hours, dug lots of holes, all of them false starts. The location is near a semi circular cairn, so if you find that you’re in the right area. Best of luck!

Walked from Cardrona along forest tracks to this summit. Horrible driving rain. The whole hill has been clear felled and replanted. Despite a half hour search, I concluded the bolt had been probably destroyed by the preparatory ploughing. Marked cairn is still intact.
