Very easy find as NJM had left it uncovered close by flush bracket and rivet on bridge

Could see the location of the block all weekend from my bedroom window (Room 4, Gordon Arms Hotel). Ridiculously easy find now! Ants nest still active - I am as wary of ants these days as other triggers are of cows and horses (See my entry for TP0093, 16/07/21). Can't recommend the Gordon Arms highly enough BTW...

Parked roadside by a field gate to E (NT 3082 2482). The key to finding it is the over-sized fence post, much bigger, in circumference, than the others (shown in BigJ's photo but not in any of mine!), and ~1m N side of fence (estimated as no measure with me). Cleared away encroaching vegetation and left it with 2 flatish stones on top.

Decided to make another attempt. GPS pointed close to a little collection of stones in the adjoining field so I hopped the fence and had a stab. It felt promising so dug up the stones. Low and behold. Usual Borders rivet sitting on its cement pad.

Couldn't find it 24th Mar 2019  16:41  by BigJ

Parked at the Gordon Arms Hotel and approached the location along the river near the bridge. Spent about an hour stabbing and digging. Nothing. The location is on a river bank and I suspect there have been many floods since the block was installed. I also suspect that the river bank has been rock armoured and built up since 1959 ensuring that the block is long gone. I visited the inn for a meal and talking to the locals in the bar, they all agreed the river has been all over the place with the bank continually changing. However, they showed a lot of interest in what I was doing and asked a lot of questions.
