Parked at the Witchie Knowe cattle grid and followed good ATV track up 100m of ascent to possibly my easiest SB find to date! Took trowel up with me to dig with but on reaching hill summit saw obvious rock left by Jon, and it came away with a tap from my boot to reveal the 'treasure' hidden beneath. Lots of other signs of digging around the summit, and a broken spade left on the DSW. Frankly - poor show, littering up this fabulous part of the world, and I'm guessing the spade belonged to one of us Triggers, grubbing up obsolete bits of concrete. Aren't we supposed to be the good guys, monitoring and preserving our precious social history, not bloody litter louts? I'd have carried it away myself if my planned onward route hadn't been 4 miles SW to Black Knowe Head.

Rod-style rivet in concrete block, estimated at no more than a metre from east side of the wall, 2-3" down. Left a boulder on top of it.

Easy walk up from the high point of the road. Had tried to find this one a year ago. Failed. This time I packed the rucksack with a good dollop of determination and set off. 2 hours later and bingo. 1/4" rod set in its pad of concrete. It was protected by a layer of flat stones and turf which made finding it very difficult. With CJ.
