Metal rod in block, 3m N of face of cairn. Covering stone was under moss but quickly found, block is directly underneath. Drove in and parked 0.5km N of summit.

Same as Jonglew below. wasn't aware of the block until after the walk. A very soggy day though so wouldn't have been easy to spend long searching anyway - another time perhaps!

On a round of 3 hills in the forest, this one the only one with a view. Poor research so wasn't aware of the block until after the walk. Would have been good to search for it, maybe another time. ***Revisited 19 Nov 2022. Block found, with rod marker, in heather with boulder atop ~3m due N of the square cairn, as per OS sketch. Boulder replaced. Drove forest roads to park at NT 3753 3635. Up MTB track from NT 3742 3616 then across rough heather.

Would be somewhere near the cairn, which is c.45m NW of the hill summit TP8350©jonglew

This was my 4th visit to try and find this one, the previous 3 being unsuccessful. Nice open heathery summit with fine views and large well made cairn. GPS and satellite put the surface block as being just in front of the cairn, so on this occasion, that’s where we concentrated. Long heather made things difficult. After lots of careful stabbing we eventually hit a horizontal target. Digging revealed a possible slab partially covered by a protective stone. Slipping my fingers into the hole, I touched the tip of the small rod type rivet. The hole was excavated, readings and photos taken, then carefully covered up again to protect the rivet. A magic spot even without the rivet. With CJ.

Followed main walking path up and then cut up through the heather to the cairn. Poor weather (mist and rain). After a quick dig, gave up, will go back another time.
