Metal rod in block, 15cm down in W verge of track, 6.2m from utility pole, 1.3m from straining post, 27.4m from large barn, 1m from fence, 0.5m from edge of track. OS sketch relates to the older dilapidated building, gates to S have gone, gate to N has moved, all fences are new and E fence possibly realigned, hence sketch of limited usefulness, GPS prompted search a couple of metres S where we eventually found the block.

Called at the farm, tennant happy for me to search. Grass verge on NW side of track approx 1m wide. Probed the ground 3-4m either side of GZ, then into the field and probed along same length and into the field approx 0.5m. Lots of hits, but nothing like a 30-40cm wide concrete block. ***Revisited 20 Nov 2022, spoke with mr farmer on arrival and mrs farmer on departure, they both fine with our endeavours. OS sketch was a guide, but fenceline seems to have been realigned and gates are now missing or moved. After nearly an hour of measuring, re-measuring, probing and digging we almost decided to pack it in when the block, with a rod marker, was found. Excavations all backfilled and turf replaced - see peregrinus' log for new measurements we took.
