Block looks to be on the edge of the cutting, and could be accessible without a railway track trespass. Called in at Greenfield Farm, explained what I was after to the farmer's nephew, he thought his uncle would be ok for me to search, but I would need to chat to him. Will re-visit. ***Re-visited 23 Apr 2021. Spoke with farmer, he let me drive across field to it as he didn't want me spooking cattle and calves by walking through them. Spent 52 mins probing the ground either side of the fenceline, 10m each side of the GPS ground zero point. Softer ground track side so did a 1m wide strip, hard compacted ground on farm side, probed a half meter strip. Plenty of rocks, dug up a few but ultimately no block found. Railway company replaced fence not so many years ago, old metal fence posts visible at ground level few inches SW of current fence, possible they dug it up if it coincided with a post hole. Otherwise I just missed it. ***Re-visited 10 Apr 2022 with OS Sketch obtained from National Archive showing block 1.99m NE side of fenceline. Spoke with farmer who advised to access field from gate ~375m to SE by railway bridge and drive across pasture - this is in full view of farmhouse so would advise speaking with him first. Roughly shapped concrete block with 1" bolt found with shallow covering of soil/grass/moss immediately adjacent (SE side) to a small thorn tree: measured at 2.7m from straining post (16th post from gate to SE); 2.5m from 15th post; 1.8m from fence wire. ***Revisited 20 Nov 2022 with peregrinus.
