From Penistone via the Trans Pennine Trailway. Then followed MickandKim's route up through quiet woodland. Marker stone easily found below a section of wall with missing capstones. Unusually large bolt revealed. Limited views - tree growth blocking the original sightlines. Back to Penistone - couldn't resist a small detour to walk through the disused railway tunnel.

Parking at the start of the path at SE 2802 0060 for one car, followed a path up hill which roughly follows the wall. Block easily found a large brass bolt possibly 3 inch replacing the small cairn on leaving. Private no access sign spotted on the way down too late ! Great find M&K.

Wood side of wall. Lots of stones in bracken. Again lots of exposed bedrock so we don't understand the OS's logic for blocking this station instead of bolting a bedrock surface.

Spent about half an hour up here prodding about without success. I couldn’t find any details or a sketch on the OS site this would have been a great help. The location is at the top of a steep wooded bank with rock outcrops – a quiet spot for a bit of digging. I climbed up from Old Mill Lane to the south west at SE279200 a good parking spot on a single track road – a wide track runs half way up the bank from public footpath at the north west and another track runs below the stone wall at the top over the location. My satmap said I was right on top of the block but prodding and digging with a trowel produced only false hits. The bank has fallen away nearby and I thought it was possible that the construction might have fallen down the bank – a quick search at the bottom of the adjacent outcrop revealed nothing. Things will be much more difficult up here when the bracken has grown. Good luck if you have a try – take some serious gardening equipment.

Hulthwaite Wood Stick showes my best guess at location.
Hulthwaite Wood outcrop below the location.
Hulthwaite Wood Coat on my best guess.
