Followed easy paths up from Carn Brea village. Past cool restaurant castle and up to monument. Weather steadily improving as we could see a lot of the north Cornish coast. 3 of 4 trigs today. Earlier on we visited Carnmenellis pillar and Troon FBM. Afterwards we visited St Agnes Beacon pillar.

Did what Jonglew suggested - found two rivets inline between lower and upper terraces - but not obvious bolt. Monument in good shape though.

Bit of a missed opportunity here as it seems there's a bolt that I wasn't aware of at the NW corner of the plinth, which was fairly easily accessible from the SW corner, plently of toe and finger holds to climb up and down. The monument is Grade II listed as the Dunstanville Memorial, dated to 1836.

Visible from our hotel in Illogan. A steep climb to the summit but worth it for the views. Monument to the Basset family [local mining magnate] who also gave the land which is now Tehily Country Park.

Visited on holiday in Cornwall, en route between hotels at Newlyn and St Agnes. Parked at junction of Druids Road and Wilson Way then walked up the hillside to visit the monument and fort. This was long before I knew its significance in relation to the Retriangulation, but my notes of the trip were good enough to be able to get a pretty accurate time for my visit, and a mention that the fort nearby seemed to have been converted into a restaurant. Will try to dig out some photos of the occasion if they exist!
