Newish house and garage

Block would have been destroyed when the garage for “Fox Ridge” house was built.

TP8680 Block was located where the garage is now built.

Approximate time. Paused at the side of the road to peer through the fence but could see no evidence that the block may be there. If it were it would be beside the garage extension. Further details and photos to follow...

Location was part of Hartgrove Farm when the OS would have sited the SB. I spoke with current owner of the farm house (named Hartgrove Farm), which is now a private house. He bought approx 30 years ago when the farm ceased to be a working farm and then owners were selling it off piecemeal. At that time 2 identical new houses were being built on land adjacent to the farm house - what are now Fox Ridge and Hartgrove Cottage. Both houses have subsequently built double garages on their properties and Hartgrove Cottage has extended at the rear so if SB has been destroyed it could have been during any of the building phases since the early 1980's. However, GR gives a location for the SB that is near the boundary between the 2 houses, so it may still exist in one of their gardens - no-one in either house when I visited.

This block was also levelled, and is shown as a BM on the 1972 1:2,500 map S of a fence in a field. It is not listed as a BM in the on-line BM data base. Since 1972 a house named Foxridge has been built on the site (see 1991 1:10,000 map). I only surveyed the site from outside the gate, but I think the site of the block is either under the house, drive or path. It seems unlikely to have survived the building of the house.
