I couldn’t find the block. Maybe it’s buried under the hedge?

Measured 5.5m NE from both the SE and NW sides of the junction; spent a while prodding around but didn't find anything worth digging for. Having subsequently checked the English Heritage map search, it shows a benchmark on the SE side of road. So that's the side to concentrate on. See attached diagram for location.

No joy. As well as the grid ref, it is listed as a bench mark, with the description NBM CONCRETE BLOCK 5.5M NE JUNC RDS (CROSSROADS TRIG STATION), and 0.4m AGL. That is helpful, but it still leaves a reasonable area (where in the junction do you measure from). Seems to lead either to the grass verge or an area of brambles. I found two small pieces of concrete, but no sign of block/bolt. Last visited by OS 1987.
