As per CJO, 0.7m N of hawthorn trunk. Ferrule in block 10cm proud of ground surface, covered in deep grass, easily found. BM arrow I think, concrete eroded, would be in keeping with the local style

(1167) Spotted the landowner as I drove down Row lane. Asked about visiting the block, and permission was freely given. Fully aware of the trig-point and their role in mapping Britain, he even pointed out the nice CBM on his house which he allowed me to photograph. A quick walk along the field boundary brought me to the block. No real build up of moss present today. Been bashed about a few times by the looks of it, but still largely complete.

First found buried lumps of concrete slightly to east of block location and suspected the worst. These, however, would appear to be the surplus supplies for making the block. Block with ferrule on north side of hedge on the east side of 4m gap. Block on surface, hidden by tall grass. This block, and the others found nearby all have ferrules and were all installed in 1939 - clearly had a special purpose from the norm.

Row block with ferrule, note surplus concrete material to build cairn.
