We parked up on Emmerdale Way and headed up the ROW between two houses, as it opens out to unexpectedly stunning views. The track then heads past a communications mast and into a pleasant area of woodland, and the pillar sits a short way along in a little clearing in the trees. The trig is in weathered condition, with exposed foundations and missing its cap, but it's a nice spot to visit. Word of caution - the entire track is an obvious dogwalking run, and you would be well advised to watch where you put your feet. Pillar #88 for DD.

Absolutely no view whatsoever, no, well I'll quantify that - the view is of the wood!. Simply sat in the wood minding it's own business. Ginnel between 7 & 9 Ennerdale Road gives access to the path into the wood where you'll find the trig on the left of the path. Fair view before entering the wood. No cars, on foot!

Having got held up in Barnsley traffic it was near dark when I eventually got to this trig. I found the entrance by going into the housing estate off the A636 main road over the rounderbout and turning right at the top and about twenty yards along, a path between two houses along the edge of the field and into the woods. The trig looked fine in the dark!

Plug missing, paint flaking off. Located at the top of a fringe of woodland near urban district so sadly not surprising that it gets used as a rubbish tip. View over Barnsley FC with floodlights on.

beautiful position just into strip of woodland. Numerologically this is also my son Jamie's 55th birthday trig. I expect I'll be long gone before 1/7/2055 or be nearly 102!!
