Hot 59 minute walk from home for my 100th recorded visit. Down to Ash Road up to Primrose Drive to footpath up to Beacon Edge then Stagsstone Road to entrance to east of Beacon Hill to Penrith Beacon. Down steeply from beacon to Beacon Edge, Fell Lane, Scawds Drive to woodland at entrance to Cold Springs then Brentfield Way to Meadow Croft, Oak Road then Ash Road & home at Cypress Way.

WOW! I alighted the 07.05 Skipton to Carlisle train at Langwathby, to start my walk up to the forest track to the east at NY 53379 31179 via the A686/B6412 & Stagstones Road. The locals call it The Pike, an excellent ramble around the area in good weather BM hunting along the way. I called in for a couple of pints of Kingstone Press at The Shepherds Inn at Langwathby before my 15.18 train back to Skipton.

4/5 visited today and walked up Fell Lane from the town centre after visiting St Andrew's Church (3hrs free parking in the square in front of Sainsburys). The CBM and bolt are clearly visible. All the trigs today are for people who go out and attempt to break records, that is what they are there for.

Grade I listed, 1719 on site of an earlier beacon. 2-stage tower with stubby spire atop. Tower is securely locked, however, nothing of note inside. Has a 1GL bolt and cut benchmark on it.

Nice walk up to the folly from Beacon Edge via footpath. (see 1:5000 map) & at this time of year you can pick sweet chestnuts on the path as you walk up.

Not as easy to get to as I first thought - accessed through woods from Salkeld Road but beacon is now surrounded by tall trees so limited views

Ascent after ABP visit to wool composting farm in Heltondale. Out ward leg not via permissive path thro cemetary close to golf course, 2 fences to folly, return via permissive path. Dry but cloudy. It is a subMarilyn and HuMP.
