Well spotted by my companion. Hexagonal pipe same as others previously found and in a wee dip, so definitely not a railing cut off.

Tatty old concrete pier. The two I've seen have been half inch lengths of half inch dia iron pipe cemented onto flat surface. Not spotted, could be easy to miss.

Pipe example Octofad, Islay. If present should look like this?

OS database records this as extant, but nothing found. Large part of pier is grassed over, so maybe it's not findable any longer. Or maybe the bolt replaced it. We'll probably never know.
