Viewed from beach. Centre is the concrete column and the lamp is the light. Both are currently good but the lighthouse is soon to be decommissioned and removed. https://www.trinityhouse.co.uk/asset/4746/download?1631718418

Took a catamaran boat trip out to see the Royal Sovereign organised by the Association of Lighthouse Keepers, wanting to see this before it is decommissioned. Amazing to view this wonderful structure.

First 'official' visit for photographs. Spotted many times previously since the 70s while working in the area. Took photographs with a long lens on a tripod from the viewpoint indicator on the seafront opposite the clock tower at West Parade , T73738 07004. The viewpoint indicator informs that the Royal Sovereign Light is 6 and 1/4 miles away while my GPS showed 8, suggesting that the former light vessel was sited closer to shore than the present light installation is. The present condition description is basically correct but there is hope - Sussex Voyages.co.uk do (limited) trips to the light, lots of interesting information on their website.

Spotted from the Eastbourne lifeboat station with the aid of binoculars and compass. It would seem indeed very difficult to get a close up view, but there are fishermen launching from the shore nearby, plus a sailing club a little way along, so it might not be completely out of the question to get out there.
