Out doing remote supervision of Gold DofE groups on their qualifying expedition. Quick detour to bag the trig. Straight up the grassy side from the head of Langstrath to pick up the ridge path to the summit. Biblical rain and wind. No views and not the most exciting fell in the area, but a trig's a trig, innit? Some damage to pillar low down. Descent to Stake Pass via faint path (route bears no resemblance to line on OS 1:25k map) then along the ridge to drop to Angle tarn for a very wild wild camp.

Parked along the Easedale road (after passing two no parking beyond this point signs)next to the ford, cross footbridge and a very quiet walk along Easedale in the early morning mist up Sourmilk Gill and on to Easedale tarn, snow covered ground now so took the gentler climb left up Blea Crag (the steep climb next to Belles Knott is very slippery) and along Blea Rigg, Stickle Tarn. Pavey Arc. and Harrison stickle. all come into view most the way up to Sergeant Man from which the views all around are awesome Great gable in particular takes a pronounced Dutch barn end shape, from here its a straight forward gentle climb up the rounded summit of high Raise although eight inch of snow made it hard work, from High Raise summit the panorama is everything being the most central Lakeland summit you can see all and despite the cold I spent quite some time taking in the wonderful beauty of it all, even the well fashioned stone built Trig sits comfortably in this setting also the shelter provided a welcome refuge from the cold wind,I took the more direct route down Belles Knott passing the pretty Codale Tarn and on to Easedale. It took me nearly six hours to bag this trig but what a walk Waterfalls. Tarns. Summits. Valleys. and lots or great views,I would recommend this walk to anyone but if you do it go well equipped with all the fellwalking gear this is not a stroll in the park.
