Out with my walking group - The Irregulars, LDWA - who were taking the valley route from Saddle End Farm to Mellor Knoll. So, the opportunity to dash up and down Totridge Fell was just too good not to miss. I approached by going up Saddle Fell and then followed the fence line north-east to the pillar. Remarkably dry for this location, only sank once! As others have said some slight damage to the top as well as missing plug. Otherwise pillar stands proudly surveying a desolate peat landscape with magnificent views. A wonderful decent back down to Hareden Farm. Could see my walking group progressing along the valley like ants as a I descended.
