From the S side of the bridge which takes the A178 over Greatham Creek, an easy path heads E along the bank into a Nature Reserve and then S. What I initially took to be some old tyres floating in the creek turned out on closer inspection to be seals :) There is ample signage to discourage visitors from leaving the approved route. Three identical structures, apparently known as Section Posts, appear on the E side of the trail. Each is approx 2ft high with steps leading down below ground level. The flat roof is rough concrete. The first two posts present no access issues but the trig site is the most southerly post, behind a serious-looking fence. This is avoidable and a trespass of approx 50 yards follows. A detailed examination of the flat roof of the post failed to find a rivet although the pebbly surface and flaky concrete might have hidden it. Concluded that its probably gone. Towards the S end of the middle post (i.e. not the trig site) theres a small marker nail in the roof. In front of this is a non-OS Berntsen - a small consolation for not finding the trig.

NZ423 T315 RIVET. No structure is visible on any map. From No 4 Brinefields Access Road with binoculars can only see as far as the trees. The location is behind these some 900m distant. The yellow and black marker poles visble in the distance have an owl box on top of one of them. To the north of this access road there is evidence of WW11 defensive structures.

Seal Sands Blockhouse defensive structures visible to north, is the larger one a blockhouse?
