Revisiting tricky parking here was lucky to find the block with no tools managed to pull the turf back , strange looks of the many passing motorists.

1.5" bolt found as per OS sketch on wide grass verge by the stocks. Only a very light covering of soil; cleared soil and cut away encroaching turf to fully expose the smaller than usual block - left it uncovered.

Two inch bolt in block, two inches down, 1 m back from edge of tarmac path, exactly in line with edges of stock supports as per OS sketch. Has reverted to grass, easily exposed. Replaced divot.

Prodded in the flower bed to make sure it was still there, but did not disturb it. There was no one in the stocks - pity, I had taken some rotten eggs and wrinkled tomatos

Although there were some flowers in the bed, they were rather sparse and not close to the block. Easy find after prodding with my tent peg.

Surface block was easy to find thanks to ted's photo. However, it is now under a composted border that looked ready for planting, so it might not be so easy to unearth in the summer months!

At junction of Winstanley Road and Pemberton Road next to stocks. Straightforward find with the OS sketch; slight hollow and a shallow covering of earth. Bolt is approx 1" diameter.

Not sure how to log this. We had the sketch and maybe we could have felt it below the grass. But without a spade or a metal detector. could not be sure.

Well buried, but it will show in a dry spell. Lifted a sod with a shovel and replaced the divot, so as not to make it too easy :-)

Did not see the actual block as its buried, but a brown piece of grass shows where it is buried. Follow the link to the OS website where a sketch and pic confirm the exact point.

I had quite a hunt for this one as it is nicely buried and only found it with the aid of the original surveyor's sketch. It was at the time GC45CC - Ye Ole Survey Monuments
