Thanks to JS for sketch. Located old straining post in hedge, projected in line with house chimney and measured the 37.45m. Offset from hedge a little uncertain but 1m from centreline leads to top of bank. Agrees with GPS within 4m, not bad. Probing to 0.4m found only small stones. Should be there, could be the standard 2ft depth. Installation sheet states scrap metal, may not be a bolt, if lucky could have an iron plate over it

I’m sure the block is still there buried under the hedgerow. Tried probing the ground with a long bladed screwdriver without success. Thought this trig point might be difficult to find given its open location. Had previously been to the National Archives in Kew and managed to source the offset plan but due to lack of landmarks to reference from it wasn’t any help.
