Must have stood on top of it but didn't see it. What a shame! Great views on a lovely day.

Walking the length of the High Stile ridge and this surface block is situated on one of the best vantage points of the whole walk. Memorised Father Ted's photos and found the spot without much difficulty. Just walk towards the view of Crummock Water and stop before you go over anything steep.

Altitude 759m. Walk up from buttermere via some potential sites for benchmarks (couple found). Misty, and windy so cold at the summit despite being July. On to Great Borne then back to Buttermere via Loweswater.

Didn't go bolt-searching as driving rain (despite supposedly being in the middle of a record-breaking drought) and very limited visibility. Had walked along the ridge from Great Borne, but headed down to Buttermere instead of continuing along the ridge towards Haystacks.

Great location took some finding as my GPS was a mile out had to boot up the internet for a picture. Violent winds difficult to stand at times bolt in vgc perched on the edge overlooking crummock water.

An easy one to find. Simply put the coordinates into the GPS, follow the arrow and then look down. Near the edge with great views of Crummock Water.

A retrospective bag. Up Sourmilk Gill for our 61st Wainwright, then across the ridge to Haystacks and down via Warnscale for another lovely walk on our annual trip to Cumbria. Didn't look for the block at the time as we didn't know it was here, but as it seems not to want to be found, thought I'd bag it now, just before this year's trip north next week on 17th Mar 13. ***Re-visited 25 Apr 2019. 2" Bolt is an easy spot, exposed, approx 30m due N of the summit and overlooking Crummock Water.
