Lot of vegetation and took a lot more digging than expected - started with the trowel but had to go back for the spade and it was easily uncovered. Left exposed.

2" domed bolt in concrete block. Tricky one to locate without a measure so relying on pacing. Dusty's photo very useful. Dug away about 6 inches of soil/vegetation and left it exposed.

Site hidden in vegetation but still fairly easy to find. Block was in a hole covered by a plastic bottle. 1.5" dia bolt. A series of noisy light aircraft taking off from the airfield. Sunny morning.

Good views of Pennines and a quite lane at the end of Carlisle airport runway. A relativly easy find. Helping factors include, accurate GPS fix, narrow verge recently mown, soft soil with few hidden rocks to cause confusion. The block is on the west side of the lane 26M south of the first tree on the east side, 10M south of the new patch of tarmac. 5M north of the 2M wide gap in the western hedge containing one new fence post which is opposite the 3M wide gap in the hedge on the eastern side containing two old fence posts. Surface block is 60cm from hedge and 1.5m from the yellow road lines . buried 12cm deep.
