The sketch for this trig station is available at https://trigpointing.uk/wiki/File:Lancs-TP8393-TheHeads-SurfaceBlock.jpg which shows that the block was located at a junction of flood banks on the E side of the Wyre estuary. But the NW branch of the embankment no longer exists. To the E of the trig symbol, the sketch shows the bank width to be 3ft; it is now about twice this. Suspect therefore that the block may have been lost when reconstruction of the banks took place.

GPS position places location 3 m north of the flood defence embankment in a wheat field. In which case it would have been ploughed up. We spent some time probing the edge of the wheat field the edge of the flood defence and mostly the top of the defences. Apart from a few stones nothing was uncovered. the defences have recently been mown. There is no direct evidence that the defences have been added to recently in the same fashion as TP1872 thus burying the mark.

The Heads on the flood defence with GPS giving location as 3-4 meter behind, in the wheat.
