Revisit. Mini-cairn readily located - thanks MickandKim. Rod marker and cut BM. Cloudy views on a windy but not so wet day. A puzzle with this one concerns the OS distance measurements. The sketch is at: https://trigpointing.uk/wiki/File:TP8428_Ambwell_Sketch.jpg This gives a distance of 8.7m from the wall corner then 2.9m, measured diagonally, to the block. Some geometric calculation from this gives a distance of 7.17m along the wall from the corner then 2.46m along a perpendicular line to the block. I measured these distances with a tape and obtained 6.9 and 2.3 which, allowing for the wall thickness and my measuring skills not being to OS standards, seemed reasonably close. But the corresponding record for the benchmark states: "NBM RIVET CONCRETE BLOCK 9.1M W WALL JUNC 3.9M S WALL". This appears to give a location nearly 2m W and nearly 1.5m S of the trig. If, like the sketch, 3.9 is a diagonal measure then the direction cannot be inferred.

Revisit, I walked up from The Causeway bus stop after alighting the M5 Barnoldswick bus from Reedyford Road Nelson after work. Great find Mickandkim once again, off to The Hare and Hounds now for a pint of Aspalls before my bus home. The block is described on OS Database as NBM RIVET CONCRETE BLOCK 9.1M W WALL JUNC 3.9M S WALL (AMBWELL TRIG STATION)

GPS indicates hollow S and W of rocks which could be markers? Probed but seemed nothing large enough, wiry grass tough to penetrate with small trowel, should be here though
