(2207) Grade II listed War memorial and Carillon. Quite impressive to see, and certainly it was visible from several vantage points today.

From age 10 - 21 I grew up near to Loughborough and from 1980 - 83 I worked in Loughborough market place - I've passed by the Carillion countless times, and remember going up to the viewing platform on several occasions. One afternoon prior to quitting work to go off to Polytechnic I went round town with a camera taking photographs of all the town's "landmarks". I rediscovered this photograph of that day 29/11/23. The date of this log is I'm afraid 'best guess' approximate. The print has faded rather, esp the top section, so hard to make out the vane...

View South West Taken from the top of the multi-storey car park that used to be at the junction of Fennel Street and Biggin Street, overlooking the Bus Station. Both bus station and car park are long gone, as are approx 90% of all the buildings in this picture...In fact the Carillion is possibly the only structure in this photo that's still standing!
