Arrived Eldon Court on bonus day out with eldest daughter, who was helping out for the day at The Body shop for Black Friday. She is the manager of the Skipton Body Shop. A nice ramble around the area BM hunting along the way.

A bit ordinary (dull) in comparison to Carlisle cathedral (where I started). Viewed it from the railway station, across the road. Carlisle 4 - Newcastle 4. Newcastle dedicated to the hundreds of oak symbols which represent HPW national trail. Breadcrumbs come to mind.

St Mary's Cathedral was built in the early 1840's, and the architect was that most flamboyant and dashing of Victorians: Augustus Welby Pugin. Inside, Pugin's neo-gothic/decorated style is typically sumptious and radiant. I've always loved his 'over the top' creativity. The tower and slender spire were added in 1872. Could view both from our hotel window.
