I was a bit worried about this one, but it was unjustified. Approach from the northeast and walk towards the marina. Pass through the barrier, despite the notice saying only yachtsmen and servicemen. There is development going on on the higher ground. Locate a set of concrete steps just before a small white building and ascend. There is a particularly vicious rambling rose blocking the way to the top of the steps, turn left and head towards a large fallen tree, you should be able to spot the pillar easily. Views are limited, but improve in winter when leaves have fallen. The view to Felixstowe container port is impressive. It's interesting to see the confluence of the Rivers Stour and Orwell at this peninsula. Retrace your steps.

Parked in the marina car park (TM 2518 3378) with views to Felixstowe container port. Up the grassy bank at rear of the cafe/restaurant, found the overgrown steps ok and followed a woodland track to the pillar. There would once have been good views from here over Harwich Harbour/Potter's Reach/River Stour estuary, but the trees have done for that. Pillar sits in scrubby woodland; spider has a replacement 3D printed centre cap; LHD sight hole open, RHD plug degrading. No views.

Parked on King Edward VII Drive. Just prior to reaching the point at which barriers block public access, climbed up an embankment. At the top, stepped over a barbed wire fence, and then went up some steps. At this point, some temporary tall fencing backs onto the wood. Walked a narrow path between the two until I reached the point at which the wood becomes less dense. Then walked through the wood up to the pillar. The cap was missing, so I replaced it. Access may appear daunting with this one. However, a positive attitude and some perseverance will avoid you lapsing into wondering what's the b***** point! The area derived its name from an incident in which King Alfred massacred a viking raiding party in the area in 885AD.

This is a bit of an odd one. As others have said, it involved a bit of slope climbing and navigating through the vegetation, but the trigpoint is quietly sitting in this strip of woodland. I find it interesting that this one probably went unnoticed for a long time until 2014. It makes me wonder if there are other trigpoints out there, that are reported missing, but are actually still there... There was too much vegetation in the woodland to see any views but a nice spot nonetheless.

Head for Shotley Marina, there are quite a few speed humps after turning left into the Marina. Alarmed to see all the development work on the left but fortunately the pillar is located beyond this. You could probably go almost as far as vehicles are allowed before seeing the disused steps behind the toilet block. Up the steps, ok at first but soon lost under fallen leaves, branches and soil. Pillar is just after ground levels out. Involved a bit of clambering over rubble. Looks like a disused air raid shelter or look out post nearby. Views obscured by vegetation. Just able to make out the harbour.

Once up banking (at end of long building shown on the map), path from TM 25106 33873. This was very overgrown even in winter. I cleared a way thru' with loppers but fear it will soon overgrow again especially in summer so take tackle

Vgc but no cap or plug. Back 11 years later, with GPS this time. Great job Tomaszewski! Even arriving in dark not hard to find. In edge of woodland looking across marina to Harwich, at back of a grassy area. Once across the main large (public parking) marina area, arriving at a barrier, up grass bank to L, then narrow brambly path leads in 100m or so to the trig.
