Parked at Hilton of Delnies as others. Made the mistake of following the obvious track, should have taken the right hand fork. Meant I had to cross the area of marsh and also the flowing water--and then fight my way through the gorse! So easy on the way back following the correct track!

My first Scottish trig pillar and achieved on Christmas day no less whilst visiting friends near Inverness. Parked at Hilton of Delnies and walked as others have suggested close to the shoreline. I do agree that it seems further than suggested on the map. Easy to spot in winter at any rate as white shows up well through all that gorse!

Carse of Delnies Whoever though of painting this white deserves credit as it makes it far easier to spot amongst the gorse.

Parking as many others. Followed the track to the trig. As the gorse bushes start take this track and keep as close to the beach as possible as the trig is in the middle of the gorse on the track. If you are on the open field side of the gorse then you've missed the turning.

Painted white, including the flush bracket. On to Culbin. It appears that parking is available below Hilton of Delnies.

Met a lovely couple out for a walk once we reached the trig on the return journey back to the car. The husband mentioned he was into bagging trigs as well! The pillar is in great condition with it's bright coat of white paint although it looks like someone has had a go at removing the spider cap as one of the screws is missing. I think this trig ties Balconie for the two lowest elevation pillars I have done so far - just 4m above sea level!

Ianmac is right, it is a long way along the track. I thought I must have missed it. As Allymac I also spoke to the farmer at Hilton of Delnies farm who I saw by chance, he was very pleasant and amenable although the track past his farm is part of a local walk so is possibly a right of way, there are arrows to show the way. At 4 metres above sea level it is certainly the lowest one I have ever been to. It is a strange and lonely place.
