Very impromptu visit, passing by en-route from Great Bedwyn FBM, an easy opportunity to bag first Wiltshire Intersected Station.

St Katharine's is a huge Victorian church set in a sparsely populated area. It's slender broach-spire sits atop the south tower. Inside I enjoyed the stone screens & tracery which divides the transepts from the nave. Much jolly carving of foliage abounds. It's well maintained and cared for, but how is it possible in these financially straitened times?

Victorian church in Savernake Forest; consecrated 1861 as a chapel of ease to the mother church of Great Bedwyn. OS doing their usual thing with mis-spelling the name! Cut benchmark on SE corner.

Approximate time. A rather spectacular looking church which seems to be in the middle of nowhere. School kicking out time so the approach road was very busy! Further details to follow...
