Walked along track from Hill Top farm. Light covering of snow along track. Nice gap in hedge directly opposite trigpoint. Great views.

Its a Byway... You are allowed to drive a vehicle up it, (april to october only). So I drove right up near to the trig. Very dull views though.

Quite a trudge in the mud but this one is really only accessible when there are no crops in the field. Wide but dull views.

Joint visit with Carole. We parked, with the permission of the farmer at Hill Top Farm, at the entrance to the track (Bullock Road) to the south east. Then it was a simple walk along the track to go through a gap (opposite the pillar) into the field in which it is situated. Recently ploughed and very muddy. Pillar is in good condition and still retains an original metal indented lettered plug. One best visited out of the crop growing season.

Followed by farmer along bridleway in his tractor carrying seed for next crop. Waited for him to pass, so I could nip to trig and he said I could have carried on as he was dropping the seed inear the trig so asked if it was ok to visit trig and he said yes as long as I didn't get knocked over by the seed drill machine.

Byway quite rutted so wouldn't attempt unless you have something with plenty of clearance. There's a handy gap in the hedge to the track at the TP, which is sat happily in the centre of an arable field. Quite expansive views over rural Cambridgeshire.

Access very easy via a drivable public byway (access denied in winter). Unfortunately the crop (beans) are now taller than the TP which made it impossible to find, and made it difficult to gain access at the moment without damaging the crop. Will return later. 2nd visit 28 Mar 2005 09:44. TP now visible from 500m, an easy bag with young crops in field.
