Parked at the bottom of the road and walked up to the masts due to patches of sheet ice still lying in the shade.

Very strange TP lying right beside an industrial building - near a sluice tank i think - not my favourite one i have to say but well worth a visit.

Drove up mast track meeting shepherd on quad bike driving a flock down. Into the compound and out the back gate to trig.

Drove up to mast site, short walk across sheep pasture, complete with sheep and modern shepherd on quad bike. Pillar sits at corner of a large comms compound; original centre cap retained, deeply indented lettering; all sight holes open. Good views, although TV Tx stn partially obscures to S. Nearby Cairn IS has gone.

Drove all the way up the dodgy track and parked at the gate. In hindsight should have parked a wee but lower down where it was much easier to turn. Trig at the back of compound, wee steps and gate into field. Lots of sheep.

I parked at NJ 7580 3278, easy walk up tarmac road. Pillar is just outside of BBC Transmitter compound, easy to reach.

vgc, metal cap, deep letters. BBC transmitter compund, gates open with engineer on site, but trig is just outside compound, at NW corner, edge of pasture. Decent view. Last trig of the trip, just an 8h drive home :-(

Located 3 miles south of the Aberdeenshire village of Fyvie in the shadow of the Core Hill TV transmitting station. Easy access from SW past the 'BBC No Admittance' sign. Public road nearby, the trig is just outside the perimeter of the transmitter. The trig pillar is in very good condition, spider retains original deep stamped font OS plug, FB faces NW, 45° into fence. Views to Hill of Petty, Mormond, Hill of Christs Kirk, Tap of Noth, Knockandy Hill, Foudland Hill, Hill of Tillymorgan, Hill of Rothmaise. Weather sunny & windy. GRP 19/08/03.
