On a round of Morven and a few hills to the S of it. Pillar sits in heather moorland, partially overshadowed by the hill of its name a mile to the W and by Morven 3 miles to the NW. Original centre cap retained, raised lettering; rear sight hole open. Extensive views. Took a semi-direct line down the hill to pick up a mapped track at NJ 4154 0193 to return to the car at Redburn.

Amazing a wee bit tricky to get to but well worth the efforts- the wee man (Rocco) had a great time- wonderful views and great wildlife

Up track from parking spot at NJ431024. Good views. Roll call of other hills and their trig points Kerloch, Mount Battock, Mt Keen, Lochnagar , Morven, The Buck Pressendye as well as the other 2 pillars (TP0962 and TP3873)on todays itinerary

Parked near spot height 173 at a widened bit of road. Followed the marked track W then SW after the fork. Where the track peters out, headed for the sky line and turned left to go over the main summit and wandered across to the trig, which sits lower down but at a better vantage point. Good views of Deeside. With Nozzer.

Parking and route as Clochandighter. Really scenic spot. Above Culblean Hill seemed to be the release area from the towing planes for the gliders from the local Deeside Gliding Centre. I was surprised how many there were.

Parked on minor road near Raebush then up track past Redburn and onward to Morven in two hours then back the same way except bagged Culblean Hill East before Culblean Hill trig then back to track and car.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 13th April 1956 costing £36.17s.10½d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NJ40/T6 in 1956. Levelled for height also in 1956. Last maintained by the OS in June 1978. SITE VISIT: Parked on widened section of road, east side at NJ431023. Followed nearest track west then SW to 499m height spot and continued down to trig. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces 172° south. Vented through north sight hole. Whilst well down from summit the site still enjoys a panoama of overtopping skylines. Northern aspect partly interrupted by random conifers.
