Pillar in very good condition, flush bracket and spider present but no cap on top. No concrete base as with some marker stones. Having seen some of the photos on this site regarding this pillar I enthusiastically set out to find it for myself. After cycling 8 miles I discovered the pillar, which sits on the right hand fringes of the fairway of hole 17 at Hainault golf course in Chigwell, Essex. It can be missed if you take the wrong path up from the road, as I did initially. The views from the pillar were stunning - I could see all the way to the Dartford Crossing/QE II bridge (which is exactly 11.5 miles to the SE from the stone). Stood on top of the pillar, got tons of photos and videos. Sad really, but I was very excited to have found this. If you seek this one out on a clear day you won't be disappointed. Beautiful.

Another bank holiday Monday. Another pillar. I have now completed most of the (accessible) Greater London ones. A long walk from Fairlop underground but once across the very busy A1112 and on into the fringes of Hainault Forest the whole area is delightful. Pillar situated on a golf course but no problem accessing it as course was near empty, Returned via Chigwell Row and Grange Hill.

Cheekily parked at cemetery on corner of B174 opposite footpath running north east. Follow path uphill, golf course on the right. After about 800 metres, pillar is on the right with clear views to the south east. Fairly pleasant location.

Positioned under some forestry on Hainault Golf course. Caretaker kindly let me on after hours and gave me directions up the path to find it. Also has a very good view out over Havering and I believe with the right viewing equipment you can still see another one of the local trigs from the location. See photos.

FP off a dual carriageway. Nearest parking P&D. Free parking on street (actually right on the pavement - seems to be the done thing round here) on Peregrine Road @ TQ471923 about half a mile away. Thursday afternoon. DON'T CROSS footbridge over road - there is no pavement up the hill on the other side.

Walked up hill through trees from Country Park car park. TP on edge of golf course and because it was beautiful morning, even at 8am there were lots of golfers - so I didn't hang about. Plug missing, once painted white, good views to SE.

I parked in the park pay and display car park and walked up past zoo to golf course, located about 25m inside golf course boundry - pillar in good in condition - plug missing.

Nothing much more to report here other than what has been written by previous loggers. Hainault country park provides a nice starting point for walks venturing away from London's urban sprawl and out into some nice Essex countryside. The Trig is located about 5 mins walk away from the PAY & DISPLAY car park , just head up the hill and through the woods until you reach the edge of the golf course. Overall condition is good but sadly the centre cap on the Spider has been swiped.

Parked in the Park car park and walked up hill. This grassy slope is a faecal minefield. Through woods and there it is on the edge of the golf course. I got quite a few suspicious glares from the golfers. Perhaps they could smell the dog s**t on me.This is the first flush bracket I've seen where the letter S is in between the B and M.

Trigpoint sits under a tree at the edge of a Hainault golf course fairway. Pillar generally in good condition but cap is missing.

Located on the edge of Hainault Golf Course in a small copse. The screw cap is missing from the top, and it looks like it has been daubed with whitewash at some time in the past

Slight diversion from our second section of the London LOOP from Chigwell to Purfleet. Trig is unremarkable but readily accessible on the side of a golf course. The more entertaining aspect of this weekend was staying a Friday night in a very dodgy hotel on the A12 just outside Romford where we were well at odds with the majority of the clientele!

On the side of the golf course fairway in Hainault Forest Country park. There's no real seperation between the park walks and the golf course so check for play before approaching the trig! And if someone shouts "FORE!" - duck!
