Bike from near Ferniehurst. Up through the fields from the south, leaving the bike by Fawhill Covert. Short moorland walk with very fine views.

Took the 'Tourist Route' - through the fields through the 3 aligned gates from the SE. Good views, but not so warm today as to want to linger long up here. Amongst many fine hills Philip Law looks particularly impressive from here.

Verge parking just N of Ashtrees farm. Through farmyard, kept to boundary of first field due to young crop, then across rough cattle pasture. Pillar retains original centre cap, deeply indented lettering; RHD side sight hole open, the other 3 have plugs in varying degrees of degradation. Good views.

Easy access from the minor road to the south east. Parking at the 268 spot height. Another wet day in the Borders, so the views were limited. Rubers Law visible through the gloom though.

I knew the day was going to get very wet . . . Parked just by the gate into the field. Like everyone else has said, the gates all line up which is good! Had to take a compass bearing for the trig when i got through the last gate due to vis being very bad.

Took the direct and shortest route from the minor road to the south east. The gods were smiling as the first two fields had been freshly mowed and were nice and dry after the heavy showers and no cattle. The gates in the fields even lined up directly with the pillar so no diversions were necessary. Good 360 views. Surprising that nobody has logged this pillar in over 5 years.

Tried direct route via track and through woods to open pasture, different routes outward and return, both tricky due to downtaken tree remains. Trig pillar situated on farmland grazing top. Column in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces southeast, compass measurement 135°. Three sight holes open, SW face plugged. Views include Hownam Law, Cheviot, Philip Law, Carter Bar, Carlin Tooth, Fanna Hill, Rubers Law, Minto Hill, Eildon Mid Hill, Dirrington Great Law, Peniel Heugh, Linton Hill.
