Asked at the stables for permission, was told the owners were only contactable monday to friday and that it was a very long and difficult walk and I was not to do it without permission. As this trig is 55 miles from home, I was not coming back so it was a no for us today.

Managed to access edge of wood near private bridle track and walk towards the trig point with just one small fence to cross. On the way back was followed by a small wippet / greyhound and half expected to meet its owner but didn't.

Take track to left through wooden gate and follow rough track with many horse hoof prints up to crest then along to elbow in wood line. A new plantation has been planted inside the elbow. Pass with side of plantation, if to R you'll see another gas pipe marker post. strike up left and the trig is in hedge line protected by blood thirsty brambles. Good views to Turner's Hill and conurbation.

View changed considerably from photos due to more recent tree planting from original tree line up to pillar. All the surrounding fields are divided into paddocks - there must be hundreds of horses! I sought and was given permission to visit the trig after going to the office at the farm. The farmyard was heaving with horse owners tending their pets. Accessed by going south down the farm track then west near the barn with the caravans outside then south along the wood boundary. Like previous visitors, I ended up in a paddock at one stage by mistake but backtracked because of the electic fences.

A hard pillar to access - ask for permission at Gothersley Farm. Then, follow the track SW from the farm to the small copse where a path climbs to the pillar. DON'T go across the horse paddocks [like I did] or you may get zapped by the electric fences [like I did..]! The pillar is very white and has obviously been recently painted. Plug is original with very indented lettering. All sight holes closed. It's on a knoll with good eastward views towards the Black Country conurbation. Other views restricted by trees.
