Approached from east along minor road, pulled over on north side of road about 200 metres west of the crossroads beside some derelict looking farm buildings. Had started to lose height so tried to check on here but couldn’t get a signal. Old fashioned way. Headed back east up the road looking into hedge, decided it was on the north side of the road somewhere. Almost went as far as the crossroads then turned west again. Lost a little height, then about 150 metres west of where I had parked was a driveway heading north with a name Old Reservoir, looking promising. No sign of pillar in hedge. Thought I’d get a better view from the other side but then reached the property and also spotted the pillar in the garden on the east side of the house. The pillar has possibly been moved from its original location as my OS 202 First Series shows it adjacent to the road. However no other logs mention this. Someone who knows better than me might be able to explain. Decided 7.50 was just about ok to knock. Saw someone inside through the window but either they didn’t hear me or wanted to ignore me. Hesitated a few minutes then walked across the garden to the pillar looking at the house in case someone came out. Pillar on a plinth but has a platform just below the FB. Fortunately the number is still readable. Good views to south and the dual carriageway bypass. Spider and cap in place. Waved as I left in case anyone was watching.

This pillar is in a private garden. Fortunately the owner was outside cutting his hedge and allowed me to see the pillar, which he has made into a garden feature. The garden has stunning views over the area extending from the sea to Haytor. Thanks for your generous hospitality.

Parked on minor road with short walk to 'The Old Reservoir' a bungalow sited at the old reservoir. Trig has been made a very pleasing feature in the garden. No-one around so wandered across for a closer view. Pillar generally good with some hair fractures appearing; new brickwork has obscured all sight holes and encroaches onto lower part of FB; original cap in place, lightly indented lettering. Good views.

This is now a holiday let. At £615 for 3 nights you can have your own trig. There are going to be some confused holiday makers in the near future. Luckily the people in there were happy to let us visit but didn't know what a trigpoint was and couldn't understand why were doing it. Have a look at the link below for the Old Reservoir Kingskerswell http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk/rentals/torquay/223099

Owner was in the garden, so I called over and said I had an unusual request. Before I could explain what it was, he said "its over there"! Gave him a talk on the history of trig points etc until his eyes started to glaze over. Very pleasant guy - willing to talk about what he's done with the trig. He assured me that he went to great lengths not to disturb the trig during all of his construction work etc and that its still in its original location. In all the excitement I forgot to take a GPS reading. A good way to cop my 100th trig since starting to record last September.

No longer a reservoir! Its now occupied by a bungalow with a very low profile above the ground. The pillar is now a "shrine" in the garden with a brick built plinth with tiling on top. Its covered with a pergola and a cherub sits on the pillar. Able to examine after asking at the house. Different! Whether pillar has been moved at all I don't know.

I think this wil have to be classed as "unreachable". The base of the pillar is exposed, but it looked ok (as far as you can tell).

The pillar, you can just make out the exposed foundations.©hollowing
