From Glen Callater. Parked at Auchallater. Bike to Loch Callater Lodge, locked bikes to flagpole, then via Carn a' Choire Bhoidheach and Carn an t-Sagairt Mor to Lochnagar. Return same way, bike out back to Auchallater. Cracking day, superb views.

Managed to squeeze onto the Car Park at Spittal of Glenmuick on a gloriously sunny day in Mid Sept. Took the usual route to the summit and queued to log the pillar. Probably the busiest Munroe I have been on of late. Great position on rock outcrop for traditional pillar. Plug missing other wise all metal work intact. Stunning views on a day of great visibility. Worth a walk out to look down the North face. Equally a return route via the waterfall to the top end of Loch Muick was a delight. Done with Nozzer

vgc, stonebuilt pillar in immaculate condition. No cap or plug. On granite tor just below highest point, with a viewfinder nearby - no use today in thick mist. Cold wind, but the rain stayed off. From Glen Muick car park, straight up the Graham Top from the boat house for a sporting start, joined main path at 750m. Had summit to myself but a fair few folk on their way up even on a cold dreich morning. On descent, snuck round the back of the Corbett to bag the Yeaman Meall Gorm and its 521m top. Then a very rainy drive back to England.

My Munro #141 first of 5 in a day, anticlockwise circuit finishing with Broad Cairn. Absolutely fantastic days walking, good weather, not too hot, great air clarity and visibility all day. Worthy of a 10 score.

Climbed from Spittal of Glenmuick. Weather deterioted towards top and distinctly unpleasant in cloud and driving sleet/rain.. Pillar on tor is stone built and looks in good condition. Forgot to check plug, it was bad enough taking photos trying to keep camera dry!

A fantastic pillar...! Visited this at the end of a long long trek via four other Munro summits. Started the trek at 10ish in the morning. Got down off the summit at about 20.30 and a great day in total. Typical nice weather across all the other summits and tops but as soon as we reached the tops of Lochnagar the fog and cloud came in blocking our evening views.

HISTORY: OSGBs highest stone built pillar. Seventh highest of all OSGB36 triangulation pillars. Pillar completed 6th July 1956 costing £52.10s.0d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NJ40/4 within the Ballater Block during 1956. Levelled for height to Class 2 precision also in 1956. Last maintained by the OS in June 1974. SITE VISIT: Overall approach from east. Car park with charge provided at Spittal of Glenmuick, NO309851. Followed estate track then footpath as mapped. Stone built pillar in good condition. No cap or plug in spider, centre filled with debris. Flush bracket faces ESE, compass measurement 107°. Back sight hole plugged, other three open. Full 360° panorama from summit.

First time out of many visits to Lochnagar. A family outing during Easter holidays and exact date not noted by me. It was my 2nd Munro
