Parked on Evelith Lane. Took a footpath, which becomes a public right of way (PRoW) up to Sunnyside. The ProW then goes through a field, which was full of cows. They ignored me, and I walked to the end of the field on the north east side. Then climbed over a gate into the field to the north west and headed south west towards a copse of trees. The pillar is just inside the copse, which can be accessed by climbing over a gate.

Cycled through Shifnal. Lifted bike over gate on Park Ln and cycled up farmers track until I came to gate guarded buy a heard of cows. They didn't mind me squeezing past them. The Trig is in a field by the side of the PF so I went straight up the hill, past loads of cow lick buckets to small fenced coppice. Rather windy up here! Cows didnt bother me on my way back. Saw farmer on Quad bike when I was back on the track. He didnt say anything.

2nd time I've visited the pillar on Lodge Hill. This time as a walk-by on a circular walk from Shifnal to Ryton and back along the line of the valley of the R.Worfe. Views to Shifnal and northwards were very good. Fields of green (cereals)and yellow (oil-seed rape) where planted up and red (Triassic bed rock to soils) where growth hadn't really started, made for a delightful vista. Outside the wood looking south & west the Clee Hills and Abberley Hills could be discerned. A superb walk too, along the Worfe valley.

Score is for walk, from Shifnal via Grindle Farm pillar on a crisp, white day, passing Evelith Mill (no King Charles!) and accompanying the delightful, babbling Wesley Brook, more than for the trig. I suppose I could have climbed the new looking barbed wire fence or climbed the chained and locked gate into the field of pregnant ewes separating me from the summit of Lodge Hill, but decided, for today at least, it was unreachable!
