Along twisty narrow road about two and a half miles north east of Stebbing. Pulled in at start of byway. Someone was walking from there so asked them what it was like to ride along. Took a chance, it was ok, bit lumpy and mainly dry, different story in winter if it was full of puddles. Pulled up at depot about eight hundred metres west of the road. About twenty five metres further west a track heads north. There was a private notice on the side of the track. Positioned to hide the pillar (probably unintentionally). Walked past it and was looking on the east side of the track before turning around and seeing it plainly. FB was a bit dirty with dust from passing vehicles. Brushed it off as best as I could with some grass. Farmland views to north and west. Spider and cap in place.

You must beehive yourself doing this one...you can drive to this one along the byway which is gravelled enough to allow a car to get along it. The pillar is just the other side of a gate which is easy to duck under for access. Within ten yards is an area of about 20 beehives, though at this time of year not a single bee was spotted. Pillar still in good condition.

If Id had my Fourtrak with me I would have done as Delta 41 did (perhaps without the picnic) - would have cleaned some mud off it too. Anyway it was a lovely evening stroll up from Stebbing, the rest has been said. Some slight chipping on the top edges.

We drove along the byway from Stebbing. The track was fairly firm undertyre although the hedges each side will destroy posh paintwork (it just scraped some of the mud off the Landy). It was a beautiful sunny winter day (the many puddles had thick ice on them) and we stopped half a klick before the TP for a winter picnic. Yummy. The TP is almost disappointingly easy to find, but the huge expanse of scenery and stunning silence more than makes up for it. Good condition with everything intact.
