Well worth £5 to see panoramic views that include Torness and the Berwick coastline. Pillar is situated 15m NE of monument and within a hillfort. Spider top intact. Extra marks for interest. Ample parking at Harestane Visitor Centre. A labyrinth of routes to the pillar and trig.

I wanted a gentle day after 2 days wild camping and walking along very rough terrain of the Scottish Watershed and the Border. This fitted the bill and had a huge monument and hill fort to boot. My birthday is the 18th June so although I am not that interested in military or battle histories, the Battle of Waterloo is a date I never had difficulty remembering. I parked at NT646266 and followed track up to the TP. Very impressive site with hill fort and monument with views of the Eildon Hills . I extended the walk by following a track SW to the road which I crossed and followed the track back to the car.
